Overview

The Signature approach.

Every Signature garden begins on paper, not on site. Our designers develop a full landscape master plan — sun and shade study, mature-tree canopy planning, drainage flow, planting palette, hardscape geometry and after-dark lighting — before a single spade breaks ground.

We specialise in premium residential estates, boutique hotels and executive commercial developments across Zimbabwe. Every plan is engineered for the local climate — Highveld frost, Lowveld heat, coastal humidity around Kariba, dry winters in the Midlands — so your garden looks like it belongs to the land it sits on, not like it was airlifted from a Cape Town coffee-table book.

A Signature master plan runs to twenty or thirty drawings on an estate project: site plan, levels, planting schedule, hardscape detail, irrigation zoning, lighting layout, staged construction programme and a maintenance manual. It is a document your contractors and your future gardeners will actually use — not a glossy 3D render abandoned once the invoice is paid.

Because the same team designs and installs the work, design intent survives all the way to handover. The plant substitutions, the level tweaks, the last-minute lighting adjustments — all made with the designer on speed dial, not by a contractor guessing at what a distant designer might have wanted.

Why Signature

Built to a spec, not to a price.

Design-led, not catalogue-led

Every garden starts as a drawing tailored to your site and how you live on it. No copy-paste 'garden packages'.

Indigenous-forward planting

Zimbabwean climate specialists. Species that thrive on our rainfall and soils — lower water bills, higher survival.

One accountable team

The designer briefs the crew. Design intent survives from paper all the way to handover.

Integrated lighting & irrigation

Drawn in from day one, not bolted on later. Cables and pipes buried under beds, not chased through finished lawn.

Fixed-price contracts

Every plant, cubic metre of soil and fitting itemised in the quote. No open-ended day rates.

Aftercare that lasts

Optional Signature Care retainer keeps the design alive — pruning, replanting and irrigation audits included.

Our process

From consult to handover.

01

Discovery & brief

We meet on site, walk the ground with you and capture how you actually live on the property — where the sun sets, where the children play, where guests arrive. This shapes every subsequent decision.

02

Survey & soil

Full dimensional survey, soil PH and drainage tests, existing tree audit, sun/shade study and levels. We also photograph and mark every mature specimen that must be protected during construction.

03

Concept design

2D plans, mood boards, planting schedules and 3D renders of the key views. You review, mark up and sign off before we cost anything.

04

Fixed-price quotation

A written spec listing every plant, every cubic metre of soil and every fixture with a line-item price. No moving targets on invoice day.

05

Site installation

In-house foremen and horticultural crews deliver the work in phases — bulk earthworks, hardscape, irrigation, planting, then finishes and lighting commissioning.

06

Handover & aftercare

You receive a maintenance manual, watering schedule and warranty document. Optional monthly aftercare visits keep the design intent alive for years.

Materials & specification

What we work with.

Materials are specified for service life, not initial capital cost. Every quote lists brands, grades and quantities so you can see exactly what your project is built from.

Indigenous & drought-tolerant species

Aloes, Combretum, Acacia, Ficus, Strelitzia and Zimbabwean grasses — species that flourish on our rainfall and soils without heroic irrigation.

Structural imports

Where the design calls for it — bougainvillea, camellia, Japanese maple, olive trees — sourced through vetted nurseries with health guarantees.

Topsoil & compost blends

We rip, screen and blend topsoil on-site with matured compost. A 150–300mm root zone that plants actually want to grow into.

Mulch & ground covers

Pine bark, wood chip, gravel and stone mulches — chosen for microclimate, water retention and the visual reading of each bed.

Irrigation infrastructure

HDPE mains, PE lateral, drip line, pop-up sprinklers and smart controllers — pressure-tested and zoned by plant type and sun exposure.

Lighting components

Low-voltage LED bollards, uplighters, feature spots and facade wash from IP65-rated ranges. Cabling drawn in with the beds, not after.

Before & after

The difference a spec makes.

Pricing guidance

Honest ranges, not guesses.

Every Signature landscape is quoted line by line, but the ranges below give clients an honest starting point. Final pricing depends on site access, soil condition, plant maturity and the specification of lighting, irrigation and hardscape.

Compact residential garden (under 300m²)

Design, soil prep, mid-size planting, basic irrigation and lighting.

USD 3,500 – 12,000

Executive residential (300–1,000m²)

Full design, mature trees, structural planting, lighting design and smart irrigation.

USD 12,000 – 45,000

Estate & commercial (1,000m² +)

Master planning, phased delivery, hardscape integration, lighting and multi-year aftercare.

USD 45,000 – 250,000+

Cost factors

  • ◆Plant maturity — instant impact vs. two-year establishment
  • ◆Extent of hardscape (paving, walls, decking) integrated into the landscape
  • ◆Irrigation coverage and controller sophistication
  • ◆Landscape lighting scheme — number of fittings and cable runs
  • ◆Site access, slope, existing conditions and required earthworks

We do not publish blanket per-square-metre rates because they are misleading — a lawn on a level site behind a wide gate is a fundamentally different job to the same lawn on a terraced hillside three floors up. Ask for a site visit and a proper written spec.

Maintenance & aftercare

Built to last, cared for to prove it.

First 30 days

Daily to alternate-day watering, protective staking for young trees, and a fortnightly walkthrough by our team to check on establishment.

Months 2–6

Establishment fertiliser programme, first prune of hedges, top-up mulching and adjustment of irrigation schedules for the changing season.

Annual programme

Quarterly deep pruning, seasonal replanting of feature beds, irrigation system audit and annual lighting commissioning check.

Optional retainer

Signature Care — a monthly maintenance contract with a dedicated horticulturist, mower crew and irrigation technician assigned to your property.

Questions

Frequently asked.

How long does a garden design take?

+

Typical residential concepts land within 10–14 working days from site survey. Estate-scale master plans run 3–6 weeks.

Do you work outside Harare?

+

Yes. We deliver landscape design nationwide — Bulawayo, Gweru, Mutare, Victoria Falls, Kariba, Nyanga and beyond, from our regional offices.

Can I use my own contractor for installation?

+

You can. We hand over the full pack. However most clients ask us to install what we've designed, which is where design intent is preserved best.

Where in Zimbabwe do you operate?

+

Nationwide, from our offices in Harare, Bulawayo and Gweru. We travel to Mutare, Victoria Falls, Kariba, Masvingo, Hwange, Beitbridge and every point in between.

How do I get a fixed-price quote?

+

WhatsApp us, call, or complete the quote form. A specification lead responds within one working day and books a site visit where required.

What warranty do you offer?

+

Every Signature installation carries a written workmanship warranty. Terms vary by discipline — ten years on residential paving, ten years on resin systems, structural warranties on outdoor structures.

Do you take on tender and BOQ work?

+

Yes. We submit BOQ-priced returns for government, municipal, estate and corporate tenders across every service line.

Can we phase the work over time?

+

Absolutely. Large projects are often phased over financial years or seasons. We plan the sequence so early phases don't become obstacles to later ones.

Can you work around existing planting?

+

Yes — retaining specimen trees and mature planting is a core part of most estate renovations. We map and protect what stays before earthworks begin.
